Old character threads 2 / artem
Avatar
Artem rests in his apartment in the capital city of Pelasgon, resting and thinking about his days as a boy in the protective embrace of his mother, and then later, in the protective embrace of the mother land. The apartment is comfortable by party standards, though old. The tub leaks when the shower is run for too long, and some of the walls are flaking a bit. The predations of the cat that lived here before you likewise did not help with the scratching. A small beep signals a message has come in on the comms terminal in the other room, and you're forced to set down your newspaper
Avatar
Artem let's out a quiet sigh as he sets down the paper, open at the local sports pages, clearly he'd been engrossed in some scores. As he stands the chair, like much of the apartment, squeeks and he makes his way purposefully into the second room to the terminal. He types away to get past the security software before pulling up the message, squinting slightly as he does due to the over saturation of the screen. (edited)
Avatar
A small icon shows there is mail there, and it needs your personal cypher to open. The scores are thankfully reproduced here in another running tally.
Avatar
Artem grins at the scores before scanning the room briefly, even though he knows no one is in his apartment at the moment. Secondly he slides a piece of fabric over the camera on the terminal before entering the cypher carefully.
Avatar
Two options appear on the screen >Exploration >Internal Sweep It looks like the message is waiting for a choice to be made
Avatar
Artem looks over the two options before selecting: >Internal Sweep
Avatar
There is a resistance movement on Vadhat that another operative was unable to get to the bottom of. The Prime Minister has been forced to flee to the orbital platform there, and his convoy was attacked twice during that evacuation run. The rebels must be found, and destroyed if they will not be turned back to the embrace of the party. The leadership must be captured for trial, but if capture looks impossible you have latitude to execute them
Avatar
Artem reads the message thoroughly nodding to himself before typing back >Understood, please send me the data files pertaining to the resistance movement and any files we have on the previous attempts to quell the movement.
Avatar
IED's and gunfire were used to try to bring down the prime minister. There is a movement in phosphoria and the highway from there to the ruins of the space elevator has a dangerous reputation for banditry. Little else is reliably known, and the CBSS central office refuses to provide unsubstantiated rumors, you imagine. (edited)
Avatar
Artem looks over the limited files as he lights a cigarette in the office chair before typing back.

>Requisition request for mission needs - Fake I.D, passable on scrutiny in order to create background for contact with resistance cell. Current infiltration plan rests on gaining detractors trust in order to identify ring leaders for acquisition and extraction phases. Current working ideas as to how to gain trust rest on convincing the leadership of possible arms deal with off world resistance groups on Capital Planet. This infiltration option would require a crate of "sample" weaponry, a smaller sacrifice for the wider good of the state. Second infiltration would require the sacrifice of on world asset, something small potentially a policing asset deemed expendable by the state by feeding their information to resistance cell in order to gain trust. Requisition of either a military asset or covert policing asset for acquisition and extraction of Resistance ring leaders also advisable. (edited)
Avatar
Sacrifice of loyal party members is not permitted, and the request is quickly denied. Weapons however, are approved and a variety of convincing fakes can be delivered to you
Avatar
Artem takes a long drag from his hand rolled cigarette and smiles glad that the state does not wish to take the sacrificial lamb ploy. Slowly he exhales a jet of smoke smelling faintly of synthetic tobacco before sending back a final message. >Understood, will prepare for transit to Vadhat, please send cargo and specifics to local transport hub for my departure.
Avatar
A shuttle has been set aside for your use to preserve your cover as a diplomatic official and not arouse any suspicion if there are leaks in admin there. Cargo will be sent once contact is made ,
Avatar
Artem puts on a dark jacket. From a concealed locker in his wardrobe he takes out a sleek matt black laser pistol and holsters it in a waist band holster on his right side after checking it over and leaves his modest apartment for the transport hub and boards his shuttle.
Avatar
(I don’t have the map in front of me but I believe it’s 3 days to vadhat for downtime purposes )
Avatar
Artem spends the time working on hand to hand fighting techniques, mostly his stance and punch throwing being that he has no sparring partner. (3/90)
Avatar
Artem would also attempt to access the personnel file for the Prime Minister of Vadhat for some light bedtime reading
Avatar
He has been interviewed by prior operatives and is a dutiful man, just a man who let the situation on the ground get away from him. As the ship exits spike space on the last day of your trip, it connects with the platform first, and you're able to speak with him if needed
Avatar
Artem sits down at a terminal in the cabin and requests a connection to the Prime Minister. Artem adjusts a tie that isn't there, and even if it were there it would not be seen, as he waits to be connected to the prime ministers office.
Avatar
(did you want to visit in person or just over viewscreen? )
Avatar
(Over view screen please, so I'm not seen in person meeting with the pm just in case of a leak)
Avatar
It takes about an hour to secure the right comms channel, ensure encryption is stable ,and then finally ensure the minister has a moment for you.
1:15 PM
You're halfway through your third re-read of the sports pages when the terminal beeps, signaling a call is waiting
Avatar
Artem grits his teeth as he reads the results of Prime's 1st team losing 3-2 to St. Vincent's clearly less skillful side when the terminal beeps "Oh fuck!" He exclaims having lost track of time. He adjusts his jacket and shirt before clearing his throat and opening the call, putting his best professional face on.
Avatar
The call opens and there are three beeps signaling encryption is on to anyone but your terminal, and the ministers "You're the second political officer to call me in the last few weeks" the wizened old man at the other end of the call says. A CBSS flag is on the wall, behind his chair, and he has the sunken eyes of someone whos slept little for days
Avatar
"My apologies Comrade-Prime Minister. You can understand the central state wants to make sure this problem is dealt with swiftly. Could you give me a bit of an insight about the terrorist cell that has been targeting you on planet?"
Avatar
“The space elevator fell due to mismanagement and several seasons of bad weather. A horrible typhoon knocked it down for good and the people blame the state for the loss of generations of work. The elevator can never be repaired. The technology does not exist anymore post scream like this. “
Avatar
"I see it stems from a lack of faith that unemployment will soon be at an end. How militant have the detractors been, roughly how many do you believe they are? When attacked was it overwhelming or a loan gunman?" While he converses Artem writes notes on the terminal
Avatar
“I sent this report over already. Are gi telling me the chairman’s office still hasn’t reviewed it? Does pelasgon care about what’s happening here at all? I was almost blown up by roadside bombs twice. Then shot at by several gunmen”
Avatar
"The chairman's office cares deeply about your safety Comrade-Prime Minister. That's why I am here, it just might be a case that I was sent out before that information had been properly verified by the Central Node." Artem says his hands making placating gestures as he pauses for a split second. "From your statement that you came in contact with several gunmen we can assume it is still in the phase of a cell. Or at least there is more chance. If they had more overt support they may have begun a riot in order to detract from their movements. I plan to start my investigation in the city Phosohora. If there are any concerns you hold toward members within the party that may be in the city it may help the investigation and it's covert nature."
Avatar
“None of the party, I don’t think. This is a problem of the masses, and the despair over the loss of their great work. They no doubt have ringleaders, though I suspect they’ll be the common working man and not party officials, even low ranking ones”
Avatar
"Understood" Artem scribbles notes once more before looking up. "Lastly, Comrade Minister, can I count on you to provide a team of soldiers or a police assault squad to help in the extraction of the ringleaders once found?"
Avatar
"It will depend on the situation, and the way in which they are found. I will need to see the results of your investigation before I hand soldiers or police over to an untested political officer"
8:17 AM
"Two others have failed in this already, and I have to account to the Chairman as well. I won't be able to account for the continual trickle of resources if they do not net a positive result for the Party"
Avatar
"I completely understand your situation, failure is not an option. I will send updates in the investigation as it progresses as regularly as the situation on the ground allows. Thank you for your assistance in these matter Comrade-Minister. For now I believe its best I get a feel for the atmospherics in the city."
Avatar
“My office will be available if we are needed. Good luck on the surface you’ll need it”
Avatar
"Thank you Comrade-Minister, I shall be in contact with updates as the situation develops." With a nod Artem closes the connection and readies himself for the mission as the shuttle begins to start landing initiatives. He showers and checks over his credentials. Lastly taking out the sleek looking Las pistol from its shoulder rig and makes sure its loaded.
Avatar
Everything seems to be in order as you descend on the city. The lighter crew can get you to a disused airport that doesn’t see much domestic flight, and you’ll be free to blend into the city form@there. The buildings are ash choked, as is the surrounding half kilometer of otherwise marble white desert.
Avatar
As he leaves the lighter, Artem makes no contact with crew, not out of arrogance but simply as a later of professionalism. He turns up his collar as he leaves into the smog, lighting another cigarette disappearing into the cityscape looking for a cheap hotel.
Avatar
You find a run down and shitshow looking doorman like motel within a few moments of not very hard searching. A man blatantly breaks a window of a nearby car and makes eye contact with you the entire time while doing so a few meters away, knowing the consequences and the law are far away
Avatar
Artem makes no fuss at the flagrant law breaking, but makes a mental note of the man's features should he come across him again. Though does not show on his face he feels a small sense of disgust at the low life's actions of open and without care, all stems from an inequality brought on by dangerous political systems. Hopefully once the detractors are dealt with order and the glory of the CBSS will be restored. Artem takes a turn into the shitty motels check in area, looking for the receptionist. His face passive and neutral.
Avatar
She is possibly the most disinterested@person you’ve ever seen. Elderly and engaged in watching a (state approved) teledrama. She doesn’t remark at the opening door, and seems fixated on “The Young, and the Restless: Because the system is not equal”
Avatar
A chuckle escapes Artem as he leans over the table to watch the T.V a little. "You know, in the second season little Vlad becomes a closet capitalist and starts selling drugs. Shame really."
Avatar
“Room is 24 credits a night. Leave them in the basket” she says, shushing you as the action on the screen shows Vlad accepting a huge briefcase labeled DRUGS
Avatar
Artem rolls his eyes at the t.v before putting the 24 credits in the basket. Then turns to look at which rooms are available. (edited)
Avatar
You see almost every key on the wall spread across all three floors of the building. Most rooms are not occupied
Avatar
Artem takes a ground floor room with a good view of the street, he turns to leave only to look back with a smile. "Thank you for your time, Babushka. You couldn't by chance, recommend a local watering hole?"
Avatar
“Crane Neck. The doorman will not stop you from drinking too much. “
Avatar
"Perfect, thank you." He makes a thumps up symbol and heads to his room. Dumping his bag on the bed he moves to check the small room for alternative exits and potential hiding places, for objects, packages ect.
Avatar
There is a fire escape that is rusty and barely hanging on to the building, but aside from this and the door, the room has no other ways of getting in or out. The Party Manifesto is in the drawer by the bedside table as it is in most hostels or stays away from home. There is nothing else here but a clock, and the things you've brought with you for yourself
Avatar
Artem nods approvingly at the sparsity of niceties, for where there is luxury there is excess and where there is excess - inequality. He opens his bag and takes out a set of street clothes and his undersuit and dons them refixing his shoulder holster and pistol within. Then he heads out into the night, bringing up the directions to the 'Crane Neck' on his compad as he strikes another cigarette to life. (edited)
Avatar
The route through twisting streets is quickly plotted and found for you, allowing you to navigate through the warrens to the run down dive bar- where the hole in the wall may be a literal feature
Avatar
Artem checks his corners as he walks in, assessing those in the bar - categorising their threat levels and looking for potential players whilst walking to the bar. He flags down the bar staff with a silent gesture. "House vodka, if you have it. Tell me tovarisch, if I were a man of business in illicit goods, who would I speak to in this bar to do business?" He asks sliding over 20 credits.

"Reznor, table in the back by the slot machine. Don't interrupt him if he's playing"
Avatar
Artem nods "Thank you." Are his only words as he takes his drink and walk over to Reznor's table making sure to not interrupt him if he is indeed playing.
Avatar
Reznor calmly draws a handfun and fires a single round into the machine, after the latest wheel of symbols show he has lost the lever-pull machine again
11:16 AM
He sighs , before stretching up to get blood flowing through his legs again. A wiry and pale man, he has tattoos resembling dragon scales ending around his neck, just barely visible above a greasy collared brown work shirt and thick jacket
Avatar
Artem walks over slowly and calmly, making sure as to not give off the vibe of a skulker. As he takes a sip of his vodka and makes eye contact with Reznor, putting forth a hand. "Reznor is it? I've been told you're the man I see about getting business done on planet. Would that be correct?"
Avatar
"Better than spending more money on this machine . Go ahead, you've got my attention"
Avatar
Artem gestures to a booth (if there is one) or a secluded table. He walks over and sits before finishing his drink. "I will say this, I have a large stock of hardware, too much, and too heavy for a street gang but too little - for now at least to outfit an army. I've heard there is a group or collections of groups working and around the city that might be in need. I was hoping you might be able to connect me, for a commission of course." Artem maintains a steady eye contact with Reznor throughout the conversation, a stoic, Non-threatening look that shows he means business.
12:48 PM
(I'd like to use my level one foci of compelling gaze to implant the suggestion that doing business with me would be profitable and in his interest) ((You have uncanny powers of influence over the wills of others, though the full exercise of such abilities is draining to you. You do not need to share a language with the target of your influence, but without it you can impart only simple, direct ideas. Your target must be of approximately human intelligence, though VIs and AIs are subject to your abilities. Note that meeting a target’s gaze is automatic unless the target has some reason not to be looking at the PC or intentionally avoiding their eyes. In combat, this results in a -4 penalty to hit a target if the attacker is avoiding their target’s gaze. Level 1: At the cost of a point of System Strain and a Main Action, you may implant a simple suggestion in any single target who is meeting your gaze. The suggestion must not be firmly contrary to the character of the target, but it will be performed so long as it does not imperil or significantly inconvenience the target. You need not verbalize the suggestion when you make it, but if you do not, the target gets a Mental saving throw to ignore it. The suggestion must be one that could be completed in the same scene.))
Avatar
"and what kind of hardware are we discussing, specifically" he asks, taking your meaning, but now shifting over to a business frame of mind
Avatar
"Assault weapons, comparable to the CBSS' fast reaction policing and general military units. Some handguns and smaller SMG's. Potentially, if business is good for future endeavors, there would by more diversification into low level personal armour and heavier weaponry." Artem replies, coolly clearly getting into the groove of the situation and surroundings now contact has been found.
Avatar
"and what do you get out of all of this. What's the end-game for these weapons?"
2:24 PM
"killers and thugs with military hardware roaming the streets is bad for my own business"
Avatar
"I get hard credits, as do you. You say volitility is a bad for business but in fact it can be good especially when talking about black market goods. The truth is that these weapons are untraceable. This is simply an opening to a potentially bigger deal, or ongoing dealings, all of which you will be getting... " Artem seems to do some calculations in his head running numbers that don't exist. "15% of the deal price, per shipment. Now for the first deal that works out at maybe 25,000 credits, but for subsequent deals, bigger or more niche that price rises." Artem strokes his beard contemplativly. "Now I've come to you because people I trust on this planet have named you as a man that can do business, a man that knows people and one that is descreet. See the human element here is the only issue, of course I have taken measures to make sure that until a deal is on the cards that nothing can be linked to any party. So Reznov, it's a simple question when you get to the heart of the borscht. Do you want to take a risk? A manageable one, and potentially make a lot of money. Or not?" Artem leans back in his chair, careful as to not seem arrogant. But remaining cool and calm as the training manuals detail.
Avatar
"How do you ensure these are untraceable, and that no one will talk? This is a big claim to make and I don't believe you"
Avatar
"A series of dead drops keeps anonymity. As for the weapons themselves, I have a source in a weapons factory. These weapons are taken before factory proofing, meaning they have not been given markers, serial numbers and such. Although it means a little more work for my team once they have them in hand being that they have to make sure all is in order it also means that they were never missed in the first place. CBSS factories have fairly poor cataloguing due to a technology gap, and so they only catalogue by number, not by production. You can see it as a fantasy, but I would not be here if it were, offering you this potential deal. I'm not asking you to handle the goods, I'm simply asking you to make an introduction with those that would buy my stock."
Avatar
This seems like you've won him over. "A small batch, to start. When can I see this merchandise for myself? it would help to set these meetings up if i knew what I was peddling"
Avatar
"of course, I can set a time either tomorrow or the day after. All I need is your contact details or some way to contact you for a meet and we're set." Artem gives a smile feeling a small win.
Avatar
“You know where I drink. We will meet again when you’ve got the goods , and you can decide where we meet”
Avatar
"Sounds good to me Reznov, a pleasure meeting you, I'll be seeing you." With a polite 'business is concluded nod' Artem stands and leaves the bar, giving a similar nod to the barman. Once outside he employs spy craft techniques to notice and shake a tail, just in case anyone got the idea he was an easy mark.
Avatar

7:46 AM
seems to be paying you much attention, no more than anyone else walking the streets might get, that is. You shake the tail you're sure you didn't have to begin with.
Avatar
Artem thinks to himself that it's best to be safe than sorry as he makes his way back to the motel, once in his room he locks the door and takes out his compad. Hoping the encryption on the little device is enough if anyone is watching the airways. He sends a message direct to the Ministers office and the Office of the local intelligence branch head (assuming their is one). >Contact made. Request operational funds - 500 credits in an operations account. Also require any criminal records pertaining to a street level fixer known as Reznov. (to make this second request easier he gives the general location of the bar and its neighborhood so that they might cross reference it.) >Will need eta on shipment and pick up point within next day(s).
Avatar
(there is one) The gear can be altered and brought down tomorrow, as the party was reluctant to release weapons from service for tampering if there was not going to be a possible payoff
Avatar
(makes sense) (did they get back to me on the request for cash and criminal record on the contact? ) (edited)

(approvals, ect)
Avatar
(gotcha! Thanks for the clarification) Artem checks the time seeing it's still early and wanting to explore the city a little more he moves out into the city once more, attempting to get the center
Avatar
The city center is a large circular park where a statue of brave CBSS soldiers are raising the flag of the party into a sandy dune though this one is bronze and the texture is sculpted instead. The trampled half visible flag of the former regime is at their feet, and around the base of the meters tall statue the names of the families that supported the revolution here are enshrined forever, as they took a risk to bring change to this world- many sacrificing their entire bloodlines and dying in terror to do it
Avatar
Artem feels a deep sense of pride as he reads the names, though he makes no outward show of affection. He sits on a nearby bench and lights a cigarette, content to sit for a while as he watches the people. On his compad he brings up the files on Vadhat as a planet, hoping to see what the situation on employment is.
Avatar
(I don’t have exact numbers but it’s really bad)
Avatar
(looking at the numbers its fucking abysmal now I've found them) Artem looks into what files he can access with his clearance as to why there is so little in the way of engineering and manufacturing employment on planet (0% pop employed in it according to the sheet on r20)

(thanks) Artem contemplates the reasons for this lack of employment then brings up the space elevator on his compad looking at its history and whether it could be salvaged.
Avatar
The elevator is beyond recovery. The governor spoke true on this accord. The projected costs to restore it would take 150 years of profitable gross domestic product to pay off
11:44 AM
And building something entirely new plunges the figure into an number so large your compad is unable to display it
Avatar
Artem looks into whether there have been plans to salvage and scrap the elevator and what potential tech could be discovered through the salvage, a project of that scale must surely take an employment boon
Avatar
The locals rioted when scrapping was attempted
3:58 PM
They viewed it as desecration of the efforts of their forefathers and erasing their legacy from the surface of the world
3:58 PM
Many of this families also fought in the revolution, and it was deemed best just to leave it alone
Avatar
Artem simply nods to himself with a little chuckle at the situation, a problem potentially to be tackled later. Standing he heads back to the room and shitty motel for the night, an alround successful day.
Avatar

Artem asks whether there is a disused warehouse or derelict factory that can be used to store and view the goods and perhaps be used to entrap the buyers when the time is right.
Avatar
Cbss records babe identified a warehouse you would be able to use for this purpose
Avatar
Having located it he'd then ask if the goods could be dropped off there by local low level intelligence assets.
Avatar
You’re the only cbss agent on planet but a series of small moving companies are assigned to bring the goods there, them changing hands so many times during the days they’d be hard to track without knowing the end point ahead of time
Avatar
Artem heads out to the bar after confirming the delivery of the hardware. He enters looking for Reznov.
Avatar
Reznov is playing the machines. Today he hasn’t shot any of the few still working normally. He’s up a few credits and in a good mood
Avatar
Artem walks in a surveys the bar while heading towards Rexnov. Waiting for him to finish his round before walking over to him and patting him on the shoulder. "Are you ready Tovarisch?"
Avatar
“Ah my friend. So quick to get your party favors together. Tell me, what is the plan?”
Avatar
Artem let's out a quiet chuckle. "well I have the hardware at a location on planet. I thought you and I could have a look at it, or we could meet the buyers if you have them lined up? I'd like to meet them first to get a feel for them, you know so I'm not walking into a trap not that I don't trust you. But, I find a sense of proprietary and caution always serves me well."
Avatar
“I’m asking you where you need us to go to look at the merchandise first. I’m not setting up anything until I know what im peddling. It seems like we agree on that “
Avatar
"of course my friend, my apologies. There's a disused warehouse on the outskirts of the industrial district. Have you got a car?"
Avatar
He gestures for two of his men to come over. “Go outside and pick a car. Big enough for four and some cargo. We will be outside in five minutes” They both nod and head outside “We have a car, yes”
Avatar
Artem let's out a laugh. "Perfect my friend, perfect. A vodka for the road?" (Can I look over Reznov? I wanna see if he's packing and generally read his body language)
Avatar
(notice/wis)
Avatar
He has a handgun in his waistband, but you;ve already convinced him you're a legitimate businessman and hes not eyeing you with much suspicion right now
Avatar
Artem makes an internal sigh of relief, not wanting this escapade to end with a dead contact that got greedy and nothing to show for it. He leans on the bar and orders another two vodka's then turns back to Reznov. "So my business savvy friend, how long have you been working out of the bar? Do you own it?"
Avatar
"Own it? hah, Id be out of business in a few weeks if I did. My mother worked here when she was alive. I grew up on the stool at the end there, doing my schoolwork while she poured drinks for people"
9:44 AM
"She
9:45 AM
is gone now, but I keep coming back. More home than my home"
Avatar
Artem nods reflectively as he drinks a little vodka. Thinking of his own upbringing, before the node took him in and educated him. How they put his mother and father in good accommodation in the capital and gave them stable jobs. His room in the cental node with its reverbation, better to meditate they said. He connects with Reznov for a second on an emotional level, then deftly files away the information gleened.
  • Mother, dead. Point of pressure? Family? -
Artem savours the menthol taste of the vodka before continuing flawlessly. He makes eye contact with Reznov. "No one at home? No wife? That being said married life never appeals much, all the agitation gets in the way for me." (I'd like to use compelling gaze again - to implant the idea that opening up to me is a good idea, after all I'm a trustworthy person 😂)
Avatar
(i would argue this imperils him and his interests so he wouldnt be subject to the effects of it)
1:08 PM
(He didnt live through the revolution and day to day gangland violence by being an open book)
1:09 PM
"I just feel more comfortable here most of the time. Its just what I know" he says, trying to move past the question. After a few moments, his henchmen return, throwing a set of keys your way "You know how to drive?"
Avatar
(all good!) "Of course!" Artem brushes past the failed attempt and downs the rest of the glass, his eyes closing for a second before he stands. Holding his hand out to Reznov for the keys.
Avatar
Reznov hands them over, and out in the street you see a boxy passenger vehicle flick its lights on and off twice, unlocking with the press of the fob
Avatar
Artem whistles tunelessly as he gets into the drivers side and flicks the ignition on, then starts the car. He takes his time picking a radio station with decent music before setting off with Reznov toward the warehouse industrial district. "Did you catch the football last night?" He asks off handedly as he check the rear view mirror so see whether or not they've picked up a tail.
Avatar
"Fell asleep before the end. Always do, even when the game is exciting."
Avatar
"I get that way. Man that foul at the end of the first half had me all so pissed off. Clearly a red card, ref should have his eyes tested." Artem makes his third needless turn in order to make absolutely sure they're not being followed before coming toward the quiet street the warehouse is located on making sure no cars are on the road or in sight at least before turning to the curb and parking.
Avatar
(notice before is good, we'll keep it)
3:21 PM
You weren't seen by anyone who would have taken any special notice toward you, and any cars that might have been following were just coincidentally also traveling the same way -though four guns in the car between you, Reznov, and his henchmen- meant any would be attackers would have needed to be as equally well off
Avatar
Artem takes out a pre-rolled cigarette and offers another to Reznov before light it and his own (if he accepts) and exiting the vehicle moving over to the warehouse doors and opening them signalling the others to follow him inside.
Avatar
Reznov accepts, and follows you, flanked by his two goons. None of them have weapons drawn and their hands are not hovering near them. Everyone seems at ease as they wait for you to bring them to where the goods are stockpiled
Avatar
Artem takes a long drag as he hums and walks down a sma corridor before entering the wider warehouse proper. Moving a few tarpaulins away from a section of strategically collapsed shelf racking he uncovers the dark green crate. Pulling it out he turns to Reznov a slightly satisfied grin on his face gesturing toward the crate. "Would you like to do the honours, my friend?" He asks taking a half step back allowing him access.
Avatar
"I never open the merchandise first. Please, go ahead"
Avatar
Artem gives a nod, taking all in his stride as if it were normal if not expected. Stepping forward he unclasps the crate, not loving the idea of his company being behind him but acting as if nothing has fazed him nor will it ever. He takes a step to the side and opens the crate, the dim white light of the dilapidated warehouse shine on the weaponry inside. "For your pleasure, my friends." (edited)
Avatar
Reznov takes a step forward and picks up the first of the rifles within it. He holds it under the dim lights , turning It over in his hands

"Here we have the KT-Assualt Rifle, robust and easy to use." Artem takes out a pistol pulling the slide back and showing them its empty. "Solovev 10mm pistol, makes a great mess of anything you hit." He flips it around and puts it back in the crate then takes out a small compact smg. "Lastly the Morozov SMG, rapid bursts and fully auto, short range power unmatched in the CBSS." He puts it back to the side. "So,you think you can find me someone big enough to want these?"

"I think so. I have a few people who are friendly to my operations. My own men, as well. Should have them. What are you looking for , for 1/4 of it"
Avatar
(how many weapons are there in the crate?)
Avatar
(There's enough to arm his immediate guys and still have enough left over. He's not going to take them all- remembers why you're having this meeting to begin with)
Avatar
(just for clarification this weapons are duds right? 😂)
Avatar
(they look fine on inspection but if you were to crack them open there'd be problems)
2:51 PM
(but these guys dont have a technical background)
Avatar
Artem contemplates this for a few moments "How about this, you take a quarter of this shipment. In lou of payment for this deal, later deals we can work out money or weapons to your satisfaction. Pick the ones you want now and I'll have them put aside, but until the deal goes through the hardware stays here. Sound good?"
Avatar
"ALright, I can agree to that. Might look like an ambush anyway if thry come in and we are armed to the teeth"
Avatar
"My thoughts exactly, my friend and we wouldn't want any wrong ideas to ruin a good deal. Okay so, who is this buyer you have in mind. Now you've seen the hardware?"
Avatar
“I’ve got a few in mind. Might be best to bring them here than try to move the stuff in bulk. What do you think?”
Avatar
"Like an auction? Bring all of them here and hash out who wants what?" He asks relighting his cigarette and raking a drag
Avatar
"Probably for the best"
Avatar
"Noval idea, can't say I've ever held an auction before. You have information on the potential buyers? I like to know a bit about my fellow business partners."
Avatar
(I didn’t have descriptions or much for the other buyers since they’re only going to be featured probably in passing )
9:17 PM
(Lot of work for npcs you’re going to pass a few lines with and then likely either arrest or shoot never to be seen again)
Avatar
(that's fair, I asked more so I can see if the detractors are going to be there, don't want to set up a sting if it's the wrong lot. But it's a dair assumption with alot of buyers their they'll be amongst them)
Avatar
(Anyone who would show up to something like this is probably someone best taken off the streets)
Avatar
(definitely true!) Having talked with Reznov Artem nods closing lid after letting Reznov men pick out which weapons they want for their crw and secreting them away under tarps in the warehouse. "So my friend, when can you have the buyers assemble? A few days?" (edited)
Avatar
"Probably tomorrow night. I'll need to some to round everyone up- unless you need longer."
Avatar
"Tomorrow night will be good enough my friend let's pack all this away and go about our business for the night.*
Avatar
"Very good, we wll continue then. See you tomorrow ngiht here, at what time?"
Avatar
Artem thinks for a few moments before continuing "Late afternoon, early evening, five o'clock seems a good time."
Avatar
"Alright, meet me first, we will come together and be your security for this. Would rather we do not introduce others beyond those invited, ifyou'll agree"
Avatar
"Indeed, anonymity is the key to good business in the underworld as it were. Let's be off then and I shall meet you at the bar tomorrow before the auction." Artem closes the weapons and puts them away again before driving back with Reznov and his crew. Leaving them at the bar he heads back to his hotel suit, making sure not to be followed as usual, paying for another night. Once back in the suit he opens up a secure link to the Prime Minister to give his report.
Avatar
The link takes ten minutes to align and begin transmitting safely and securely.
Avatar
Artem waits for the connection to go through and sits back in the shitty motel chair his face one of professionalism. "Prime Minister, I'm happy to report that my efforts on planet are bearing fruit. I have set up a weapons auction with a number of underworld organisations, all of which deserve to be taken off the streets, one of which will no doubt be the detractor cell. I'm requesting a quick reaction military or policing asset in order to kill or capture the buyers."
Avatar
“How many men do you think you will need for an operation like this?”
Avatar
(Did Reznov give me an idea as to how many buyers would be there?)
Avatar
(No he didn’t. Intentionally )
Avatar
(Fair play) "How many professional tactical soldiers can you have on hand? I need no less than perhaps two squads but if we want to make sure no one gets away l, three would be more acceptable"
Avatar
“That brings us to 30. They’ll be seen on the way there. I’d expect to go some minutes without that support once they get moving. The gangs may have lookouts posted”
Avatar
"How many do you think can be moving without alarm being raised?"
Avatar
(He means however they get to where you're meeting, they'll have lookouts. They'll either notice the vehicles or the aircraft)
Avatar
(oh I see) "Well, I think if one squad flies in and ropes down that will give us the biggest element of suprise, two more arrive in convoy and move to surround the building. I can make it seem like it's a double cross from one of the many parties there"
Avatar
This plan seems agreeable, and 60 men along with the vehicles to carry them are authorized, and will approach within five minutes of your signal
Avatar
Artem signs off after everything is planned for and sorted, the signal will be in the form of an encrypted message from his compad. After all this Artem decides to meditate, as he was taught by the psychics from the central node on Pelasgon. He finds his center and focuses on the blankness, clearing his mind for the tasks ahead and preparing to undertake one of the most dangerous tasks of his life so far.
Avatar
(this would coutn for any kind of healing or strain recovery you might need, before we move on)O
Avatar
(Sweet thanks) Artem comes to, having fully rested in his meditative state, morning approaches and he spends it in his room going over the plans and lay outs of the building either from memory or of schematics that he can find. He looks for how many exits there are and through communiques with the Minister's office he puts forward the plan to seal them when the second and third squads arrive. Following this he looks to see if the information on Reznov has arrived back yet. Deeming hin important enough to potentially be an asset on planet if he can be turned following the operation.
Avatar
He seems fairly well connected. He is wanted for strings of minor crimes, and has been sent to prison almost for 1/3 of his life so far, but never for anything violent from what you can tell -and all of his crimes seem to be symptoms of the resource mismanagement on Vadhat. There is one notable incident where he saved a correctional officers life in prison, when she had been cornered by other inmates during a moment of inattention. The report is thin on other details but you can imagine what they would have done had he not intervened.
Avatar
Artem nods as he reads looking over the record. A man trying to make his way in life, if I can maintain his integrity through this mission he may be up to turning. He gets up and holsters his pistol in its shoulder holster then slides his CBSS fighting knife in a sheath along the inside of his forearm. Putting on his coat as it nears four o'clock he heads out to the bar. Setting the security forces on standby ready for the order to move.
Avatar
Reznov is just getting in as well, looking a bit tired. He was probably up most of the night making calls and getting everyone together
Avatar
"Ah my friend, a long night? It'll be worth it no doubt!" Artem takes out a cigarette and lights offering one to Reznov as he does.
Avatar
He accepts it and doesn’t say anything for a few long moments “Everyone’s in place”
Avatar
"You're lads coming or are they already there?" He asks taking a long drag of the cigarette.
Avatar
"I will tell them when to come. We set up first, prepare what we need"
Avatar
"Okay, let's start the set up then! Have we got a car outside?"
Avatar
"Same one. Wasn't reported stolen, enough room for all of it. "
Avatar
Artem let's out a chuckle as he nods to Reznov to follow him to said vehicle. He gets to the drivers sear and sets off toward the warehouse, making the usual precautions in order to spot or shake a tail.
9:19 PM
"So, how many buyers are going to be there Rez?"
Avatar
"Five buyers, and a few bodyguards. You know how these go. A handful show up, they distribute the goods to their own people later"
Avatar
"yeah, the ones here will be the smooth talkers. You ever had issues at these things before?" He asks pulling up checking the mirrors before turning to Reznov
Avatar
“No problems really. Business like this benefits everyone. Nothing to gain with betrayal”
Avatar
"I suppose having so many people from different interested parties benefits that idea too, if one betrays then they betray all. Not just the buyer." He ponders climbing out of the car and walking towards the warehouse door, opening it and walking in.
Avatar
Aside from any last minute preparations you want to make , Reznov will make the final call to get them here once you’re ready
Avatar
Artem makes a cursory look over the 'Merchandise' giving the nod, while Reznov is busy making the calls Artem goes to check the other exits (Could you tell me how many (if any) other exits are there to the building?)
Avatar
(Two other fire exits, and the main freight doors you've been using to get in and out normally, and what they'd use to drive their cars/trucks/whatever right inside for some privacy)
Avatar
Artem locks one of the two fire exits if he can or bars it in some way if he thinks it won't be too loud. Thereby creating only one alternative exit to funnel people out when things go sideways. Then walks back to Reznov casually.

Avatar
“Something out there friend?” Reznov calls, seeing you fiddling with one of the doors.
3:45 PM
“Is there a reason you want them closed?”
Avatar
Artem internally before turning around with a smile seemingly unfazed. "Just this one my friend, I don't like having doors at my back during a meeting, betrayal as you said is not in anyone's best interest but if I relied on trust only then I'd be dead. The other can stay open, to block both would be a fire hazard and a terrible idea should we need to get out quickly." He says cooly before attempting to move on. "Everyone on their way?"

Avatar
“Yes. I’ve just made the call. I would expect within the next fifteen minutes or so, we should see them”
Avatar
"Perfect my friend, let's get the place set up then!" Artem pats him on the shoulder excitably before walking with him to the crate and opening it as if setting up a stall at the market. (Can I spot to see whether he thinks something is wrong after my comment?)
Avatar
(I think your social Crap is high enough where you’d just know. Your explanation was plausible so I didn’t think it needed any further dressing up)
Avatar
(nice! Thanks for the clarification)
Avatar
The preparations are made after a few moments more and it seems like all is in place for now
Avatar
Artem takes out a cigarette and lights it smoking it down by the time he hears the first vehicles pulling up. He flicks it to one side of the warehouse, nodding to Reznov with a smile. "Time for business my friend, time for business."
Avatar
(good to go then?)
Avatar
(yeah)
Avatar
twenty people between six cars show up over the next fifteen minutes, representing different underworld leaders and their bodyguards. They're overtly armed but the weapons are homemade, or surplus of surplus at best. You can see why someone offering the wares you are would get these people to come out of the woodwork
Avatar
Artem greets each of them in turn as they enter, like a good host. Never lingering too long on any one person as to not break underworld social protocol. As the last enters and is greeted Artem takes his place near the tarpaulin covered weapons and Reznov. "My friends, I assume my associate here has explained as to why you are gathered here so I shall skip to it. I have with me a number of items, to which I am selling to you today. This will be an auction and I trust that all of you will respect the rules that govern our world on occasions such as this. With that said let us begin!" Artem takes of the tarp and reveals the stock of weapons underneath, as they all marvel at the weapons he slips his hand into his pocket first touching his compad to send the signal to begin the assault timer and secondly to take a notepad and pen in order to keep track of the bids
Avatar
(I think as long as not too many weapons are handed out so people realize they're fakes, you'd be able to pull this off, but really nothing kinetic is going to happen until you signal the CBSS folks to move in)
Avatar
(yeah, I've signalled for them to get in position and I think you mentioned it will take them about 5mins to move in so I'm just buying time) Artem signals the first of the groups to come forward and survey the merchandise "Ladies and gentleman for the purposes of this auction you may look and pick up the weapons but please do not disassemble nor overly handle the goods, this is for the safety and comfort of all here as well as the good of the merchandise. I'm sure some of you know what you are doing but I don't know which ones you are and to be frank I'd rather not have my goods broken by a keen amateur!" He says with a chuckle hoping to get the crowd a little warmed up as well as to dissuade anyone from meddling in his plans (edited)

They seem to agree with the instructions, and as you begin auctioning off a heavy machine gun, one of the pride pieces of the sale, there is a bang from outside as the first of the transports arrives, and CBSS civil defense officers begin swarming the warehouse grounds
Avatar
(Have the rest of the patrons realised?)
Avatar
(you;'re all hearing the noise at the same time)
Avatar
Artem cocks an eyebrow at the noise, slowly a hand disappears into the overcoat he wears and takes out a laser pistol. Looking to Reznov. "Uninvited guests? I thought you told me we had an understanding between the parties here?" His manner is cold but not aquistory toward Rez but the audience. Attempting to create some disunity toward the factions within.

Most of them have drawn actual working weapons, and in the seconds it takes for them to try to piece together who might be responsible, the doors blow open as CBSS troopers begin piling in. Reznov is next to you, and his hand yanks you down sharply behind the cover of the weapon box
2:40 PM
He is loading his own pistol. "Out the back, lets try. If we're quick they might not have surrounded the place yet"
Avatar
Artem blinks several times as the explosion rocks him. "You're right, let's go! We'll wrap around the shelving it might give us cover, while they fight it out! I have a team out there, my own men if I can get in contact with them then they'll give us cover." He takes out his compad and opens a secure channel to the commander hoping against hope that he'll understand what he's about to do. "I'm exfilling, we're in contact. Attempting to move out of the back. I'm with a friendly, don't take him out."

Reznov stops. “Your own men?! You did this!!?”

"Now do you want to live? If so, follow me, or stay here and die. Time is slipping!" Artem shakes his head, hoping to have convinced Reznov with the cover up lie as he bursts away toward the back door.

Avatar
Believes you or not, Reznov follows you out the only door you didn’t seal as the firefight develops , barreling directly into the arms of the Cbss troopers covering the back.
8:15 PM
He fires at one of the troopers and misses before he’s tackled
Avatar
Artem raises his hands as he moves to the side after leaving. As the troopers near him and take Reznov he looks professionally toward the nearest NCO or Officer and says calmly. "My codeword is 'Cossack', check me through then get in there they're trapped." He looks apologetically to Reznov. "This one is not to be killed."

Avatar
Reznov is glaring daggers at you, unhappy his trust was abused. There is shouting and gunfire from inside and it sounds as though the firefight is heating up.
Avatar
Artem looks to the CBSS troopers "Do you have this or do you need a hand?"
Avatar
"Thirty on eight. Should be over soon, I think"
Avatar
"I shall leave you to it then. Is there a vehicle I can use to get the the shuttle port?" (do I know where the prisoners will be held? Will it be on the station?)
Avatar
(Probably eventually for those who are in danger of being broken out or escaping, but they'll be processed here on the ground)
Avatar
Artem finds the CO of the unit. "Once you've mopped up here, brilliant job by the way, can you give me a couple of your lads and the Prisoner you took with me?" He says gesturing to the kneeling figure of Reznov, black bag over his head against the wall. "I need to interview him, preferably off planet."
Avatar
It would be foolish to deny an order from the home office and as the firefight comes to an end, your request is granted
Avatar
Artem makes sure to thank the troopers and praise them for their apt and prompt work, he then takes the quietest two troopers he can find and has then escort Reznov, bagged and blindfolded to a vehicle. Having driven to the port Artem boards a shuttle up to the orbital platform before interviewing Reznov, Artem thinks it best to see the Prime Minister. Having the two troopers take Rez to the cells to stew for a while about his position. Artem walks toward the reception of Prime Minister. "Is the Prime Minister free, miss?" He asks the receptionist
Avatar
"He is, and is expecting you. I can send you in if you're ready"
Avatar
Artem smiles and nods "If you wouldn't mind, Zaya."
Avatar
There is a hiss as the door opens and the planetary Prime minister stands, gesturing you to sit down
9:32 AM
“Welcome baxk Officer Volkov”
Avatar
Artem gives a warm smile and there is a slight bow of his head in acknowledgement. "Comrade Minister, a pleasure to finally meet in person. Thank you for seeing me." He says taking a seat across from him.
Avatar
"your mission on the surface went well. I just finished reading the report. What about the one you took into custody? He wanted back at the capital?"
Avatar
"Thank you, Comrade Minister. The one I brought back with me goes by the name Reznov. I requested his record on planet? I believe he could be an asset, either on this planet or to the Central Node. I plan to give him an option of joining us, he's resourceful and by his record and what I've seen he is a man of decent character. Simply a symptom of the remnants of capitalism. To turn him would be of great value. But if I cannot, he will have to be disposed of." Artem sits up a little. "Do you believe that after my operations today the detractors will fade? I would suggest that after taking out their ring leaders you question those left and attempt to root out the rest, lest our work today been seen as creating martyrs."

"Only been a day, too soon to tell if this will spread planetwide, but I doubt it. The same may need to be attempted in another of the settlements to show them that no one is safe, and that the CBSS is everywhere. I would try a different strategy this time, however. and perhaps not employ your friend. If he can be turned, he will be assigned to the political office under you, or given a job in Central Planning on Pelasgon where he's safer from anyone who might come looking"
Avatar
"That was my thoughts, Minister, his cover is blown on this planet unless they resculpted him. But we shall see if he accepts." He pauses deep in thought. "I'm more than happy to carry on, seeking out detractors is what I'm trained to do. To keep the CBSS strong and make it stronger is what I wish to do. Perhaps, following this they will become bolder, I may attempt to try and join them this time."

"None worth bringing to the platform. Minor ringleaders, and street walking scum. Most will be shown a blindfold and a wall"
Avatar
"As they deserve, sad that they did not see the light of reason earlier and stop these foolish games. A shame, though I assumed they might prefer death over what they perceive as dishonour." Artem claps on his thighs as he stands. "Well, Comrade Minister. There is work to be done. I must be off to it without delay."
Avatar
“I’m ready to send support when you make the reports needed. You shouldn’t need me until then”
Avatar
"Of course, Comrade Minister. Thank you fir your time." Artem comes to attention and gives a small salute before leaving and heading to the cells, he comma down to have Reznov move to and interrogation cells on the way.
Avatar
Two guards stand outside the thick metal door of the interrogation cell, and looking through the bars you can see the guards have been very rough with him despite being placed in essentially, protective custody
Avatar
Artem looks in then to the guards, his face becoming cold. Ruthless. "Who did that to him?"
7:08 AM
his tone is flat, and almost emotionless, he makes eye contact with one of the guards. (I'd like to compel him to tell him, the idea I implant in his head is this: I am an agent of the Conclave, and if I so wish I'd could have him disappear in the night to tell me might mean that doesn't happen.)
Avatar
"The protective detail you assigned to him. We are starship security, we only handle the prisoners once theyre on board"
Avatar
Artem narrows his eyes. "Get me their names. Now, if you please." He takes no time for the man to digest the statement cementing it not as a request but a requirement. He opens the door and steps in to the chamber. His face at once turns from cold anger to apologetic and slightly sad. "Reznov, I'm sorry for your treatment, I will personally see those who did it will face consequences." His hands are open and placating as he pulls out the chair across from the Prisoner and sits.
Avatar
"fuck you" he spits, the saliva is crimson from a still bleeding mouth
Avatar
Artem nods solemnly. "I would feel the same in your position. When I was a boy, they took me to the Conclave, you see, I am what they call gifted. In many ways it is, in other a burden. I felt the resentment you feel, to be taken away from one's parents at such an age." Artem slides a water bottle over to him, though handcuffed to the table there is enough movement to drink. "They taught me a great many things there. One of which was this, A house divided against itself, cannot stand. I saw from your record you were not a violent man by nature, nor a bad one." He turns the pad holding Reznovs dossier around, showing the statement given by the Prisoner guard about his conduct during the riot. "You are a product of an incomplete system. Though not one too far gone. From our conversations, few though they were I noted your empathy. So, I've come to make you an offer tovarisch, join me, join the CBSS, properly. Help me make this politely something more than it is. Better for our families, and the families of others. The work I do can be ruthless, indeed often the work I am sent to do is. I am a necessity of dealing with the left overs of the failed capitalist systems. But, my sacrifice of self is worth everything I am, to give the CBSS a fighting chance at creating a better universe. If you do not wish to be under me, I fully understand, I can have you assigned to a ministry post on the capital." (edited)
Avatar
"Working under you? Doing what, taking more desperate people off the streets and putting them into bodybags instead? Is that how you intend to cleanse the CBSS?"
Avatar
Artem sighs "No, to avoid it. Those desperate people were hardened criminals. You know it, I know it. Let's not kid ourselves. I intend to try make things better, make the CBSS work, like it ought to. Make the practice of communism truly work. As do the higher ups. But in order to treat the disease of capitalism, we must treat its products. As it stands I cannot make things better economically and the situation is dire on Vadhat enough that those detractors will not listen to reason. So, there is only one thing to be done. In your world you might see it as business, its gory work and I don't enjoy it. I tried to limit casualties today. Truly I did."
Avatar
“That’s why your officers put everyone they didn’t already kill on their knees and shot them, right? That’s your opinion of proportionate force?”
Avatar
"Sadly, order on high said differently, but I will not hide behind them. The people that died today were gangers, criminals and rebels looking to buy heavy duty military hardware in order further their own agendas." He takes out a cigarette, offering one to Reznov before taking and lighting one of his own. "I've given you an option, you have never got in life, come and help me build a better tomorrow for the CBSS, one different from that you grew up in. Or don't. I'm afraid our time comes to an end."
Avatar
“You asked for honesty then. How about some with me first. It’s this or a noose. Or the wall. Isn’t it
Avatar
"I'm afraid so, you've had the unfortunate sight of my real face. As such, if I cannot garuntee your help or silence. Then it's death."
Avatar
"Do you have a family?" Artem asks
Avatar
"Why, so you can shoot them too? or order other people to do it?"
Avatar
"No, so I can have them provided for, whatever your option."
Avatar
"It seems i have no choice if i want to continue living. I will work under you. I have..its not a family, exactly, but there is a woman, and her two children"
10:16 AM
"we have been involved"
Avatar
Nods taking a long drag on the cigarette "I can see if I can have them moved to Pelgason, if that is your wish. I fear that for a long time you will not be welcome back on Vadhat. For that I apologise."
Avatar
"Get them out and there is no reason to go back"
Avatar
"I'll make a call. I'm not a wicked man Reznov. I hope you realize that. I simply do what I must, so that the CBSS can thrive. Even I have my limits though." He stands and unshakles Reznov's bindings. "I will make sure you have quarter's, here on the station. You won't be in the field for some time. But I may need you to give me guidance in the coming days. I've work to do still."
Avatar
“Get my family out and I’ll help you however I can. I won’t lift a finger before then”
Avatar
"I wouldn't do any different. I'll see to it personally, send me their details and I'll go down and extract them." Artem is about to put a hand on Reznov's shoulder, but thinks better of it. Time is needed to heal that wound, time and trust. Artem simply nods and walks out as he does he turns to the remaining trooper. "That man is to be given quarters and the best treatment, he is to be considered an extension of myself, if he comes to harm, I will hold you personally responsible. Am I understood trooper?" He makes eye contact with the trooper, his face one of cold authority, given after years of training in the Conclave.
Avatar
"I will pass the message to station command as well Commissar. It will be done"
Avatar
"Thank you trooper." Artem leans his head into the door. "By the way Reznov, I never did introduce myself. Name's Artem Volkov. A pleasure." He says dipping back toward his quarters and his kit. After grabbing a duffle bag of gear Artem heads to the hanger to be taken back down to the station he used the first time.

Artem turns his back on the two men so they have a hard time reading his lips or hearing as he whispers. "Reznov sent me. I'm here to get you out."
Avatar
There is a latch thrown inside, and the door opens a crack. "Come in, quick
Avatar
Artem slides in sparing a slight look at the goons as he enters. "are you alone?"
Avatar
"My children (or child, forgot if it was one or more) are here with me"
Avatar
(two kids) Artem nods curtly "I'm here to extract you and them. If you want to get out of here and off this world to something better, grab anything you can't do without." Artem looks to the door. "Best be quick about it too, by the look of those thugs."
Avatar
You hear her move away from the door and some mumbled words that get lost translating through the door, to the kids inside. There is some banging that sounds like things being pulled from closets or scooped off shelves inside. From the stairwell, the two gangers watching the closest begin making their way up. "You looking for someone comrade?"
Avatar
  • Artem turns, his face looking worried, though noticeably not so much about this situation as in general.* "Just getting my girl, Comrade and the kids. My parents just got rushed into hospital and we need to go see them." He fidgets with his hands nervously and tries not to make eye contact, acting submissive.
Avatar
"Your girl? She already move on from Reznov?" one chuckles
Avatar
Artem straightens, casually. His dower look and cowed behaviour done. He chuckles too. "You one of his? Or someone else's, Comrade?"
Avatar
"It matter? You should leave the lady alone. We've asked nicely twice now"
Avatar
"Okay Comrades, sorry for the inconvenience." He says moving to walk past the two his hand moving up his sleave casually as he closes and draws the fighting knife strapped to his forearm. He turns. "One more thing.." He announces just before lunging forward, attempting to put the blade up through the man's jaw and in his throat.

Artem wheels on the last remaining one, ripping the knife from the top of the throat as he does. Effective and brutal he turns cold eyes on the other in close proximity, bring the blade up to stab him with a reversed grip, down toward where the collarbone meets the base of the neck. (edited)

The sub dermal armor turns the blade aside , as the thug hefts his own blackjack from a belt loop back in your direction. (23/1) the rubberized and wooden stick smashed into your wrist , numbing it

Artem takes a sharp intake of breath as he is hit and his arm is jarred from the deflection he sweeps the blade to slice at the under arm of the ganger as he uses his other hand to deflect an oncoming blow. His teeth grate against each other as his aggression gets the best of him in the frenzy.

He stumbles as the blade sinks in, his return blow going wide as he’s rocked from his more balanced position

Artem takes the opportunity moving to headbutt the ganger and sink the knife under his ribs and up. His face, a mask of rage coated in sweat and splashes of blood. (fuuuck 1)

You want to do that move but you’re unable to execute anything even close to it. (15/3) the clumsy swing is all the ganged needs to crack you across the back with his blackjack
Avatar
Artem exhales as the blackjack hits, knocking the wind out of him. His eyes now showing fear as he coughs blood at his opponent before attempting to stick the knife in the man's thigh as they tussle. (14/3)
Avatar
the pressure of another body on top of Artem falls away as the multiple stab wounds make themselves known. He slides off, and hits the floor hard
Avatar
"Fuck..." Artem grunts as he stumbles back looking at the bloody mess. He wipes the blade in the man's jacket and sheaths it then takes out his pistol. He rummage through both their pockets and takes their compad, squirrelling them away in his trouser pockets. "Should've just left well alone..." He murmers to the two dead men as he passes back to the door and knocks on it. His eyes firmly on the stair case. (edited)

There isn’t any movement inside the apartment anymore , they’ve undoubtedly heard the scuffle and can’t be sure who’s out there. Downstairs you hear feet gently coming up the steps a few landings down

Artem sighs taking ad hoc cover in the doorway, kneeling down and point his weapon down the corridor. "It's me, Comrade." He call through the door. "I need you to open the door. So I can get you out of here."
Avatar
You hear a chain sliding off the latch inside as the door gently opens. “Quick!” She hisses , unwilling to expose herself or her children to more harm than what’s happened already (edited)
Avatar
Artem moves inside closing and latching the door behind him "Has this apartment got a fire escape?" He asks as he looks around to find something to use as a towel for all the blood
Avatar
There is a fire escape in their daughters room, that leads down to the street. No one is at the bottom of it right now
Avatar
"go first, if you get down there and they tag me, there's a car about half a block up, here." He gives her the spare key. "Get going ill follow you down when you're halfway, to make sure they don't just hose us on these stairs."
Avatar
"Aren't you supposed to be protecting me? Why should I be first? and my kids! what if something happens to me?!"
Avatar
"Because the people are behind us, not infront. But fine, we haven't the time to debate. Come on let's move." He heads out of the window onto the fire escape he turns to see if she needs help with the kids.
Avatar
She’s getting them bundled up when the first of what will be several heavy pounding blows on the door rocks the apartment. The man coming up the stairs has no doubt found the bodies
11:14 PM
There doesn’t seem to be anyone at the bottom of the escape yet but that could change at any time
Avatar
"Fuck. Time to do some knocking back before decides to kick it in." Artem growls quietly, almost to himself as he walks past the woman, half closing the childrens door He leans half in the doorway to the childrens bedroom and calls out "No doorstep salesmen!" As he fires a shot through the bottom of the door at kneecap level with his new mag pistol, just in case it's not a combatant but not wanting to take the chance.

You're not sure if your shot went through the door but the sound of it seems to have bought you a few seconds none the less
Avatar
Artem wastes no time as he moves back into the room "We need to go, now. Ready or not." He locks the child's door best he can and ducks out to the fire escape looking down, pistol in hand.
Avatar
Outside, as you take another look, the two goons on the street corner are beginning to make their way down to the building, though they're moving in such a way where they havent noticed you on the fire escape yet
Avatar
Artem holds his hand out to the woman and here children signalling a stop "Wait, they're coming in, if we time it right they'll be inside and we'll be out of sight when we get down. Now!" He hisses as he begins to move down, attempting to time it so that they slip out at as the other hostiles move in.

You hear the two doors bang open as the thugs enter, and some conversation that is very loud in the lobby before they begin heading up
Avatar
Artem because moving down the firescaoe quickly, helping with the children as much as he can to keep them quiet as the make their way down.
Avatar
The timing is right, and none of the goons see you escaping down the fire escape, and onto the surrounding streets
Avatar
Artem shepards the family to his waiting car, reversing up the street and out toward the port. He messages Reznov: >Pickup complete, all healthy, RTB.
